About Chaz Cox, PMP
The Path From $40K to Six Figures (And Why It Matters to You)
Chaz Cox built his career the hard way — no shortcuts, no nepotism, no MBA.
He started with degrees in Construction Management, Safety Management, and Drafting & Design. Fresh out of school, he did residential design work then onto supporting project teams at a general contractor, learning the fundamentals on the ground level. He moved into project accounting, which gave him something most PMs never get: real cross-functional business fluency. He saw how money moved through organizations. He understood the financial impact of decisions.
That foundation changed everything.
When Chaz transitioned into IT services as a full Project Manager, he wasn't starting from scratch. He was proving the pivot was possible. He delivered over 250 projects. Not by being the smartest person in the room, but by understanding how to think strategically, communicate like a leader, and own outcomes instead of just tasks.
He got promoted into leadership, overseeing other PMs and managing a portfolio of thousands of projects. Then he moved to his current role as a PM at an engineering firm in the Data Center industry — one of the most in-demand, high-paying sectors in the market.
Today, he's a six-figure Project Manager.
But here's what matters: He's lived every step of the path you're on.
He knows what it feels like to be a coordinator doing PM-level work without the title or the paycheck. He knows the frustration of watching less competent people get promoted. He knows what it takes to break through — not talent (though that helps), but understanding the unwritten corporate rules that nobody teaches you.
Why He Built PM Directive
In 2025, Chaz founded PM Directive because he kept running into the same problem: smart, hardworking coordinators and technical professionals stuck in low-paying roles, frustrated, underutilized, and convinced they weren't "qualified enough" to make the jump to PM.
He knew better. He'd been them.
So he built PM Directive to answer the question he asked himself years ago: What's the game I'm not seeing?
The answer isn't motivation. It's not another certification or a course on Gantt charts. It's the framework for thinking, communicating, and operating like the leaders who actually get ahead — before you have the title, before you have the paycheck.
What He's Here to Do
Chaz wants to show you that the $100K+ Project Manager role you think is out of reach isn't. It never was.
You're closer than you think. You just need someone who's already been there to show you the way.
That's him. That's PM Directive.
